We’re pleased to share the schedule for the upcoming year-end and New Year events at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo.

2025 (Reiwa 7)


*Thursday, December 25 – Final Practice of the Year

 Regular classes at Hombu Dojo will be on break from December 25 through January 5.

 

*Friday, December 26 – Year-End Cleaning

 Volunteers will gather to clean the dojo, expressing gratitude for the past year.

 

*Wednesday, December 31 to Thursday, January 1 – New Year’s Eve Practice (23:30–00:30)

 Under the guidance of the Doshu, we will close the year and welcome the new one through Aikido practice.

2026 (Reiwa 8)


*Tuesday, January 6 – First Practice of the Year

 Regular classes for the new year will resume.

 

*Saturday, January 10 – Morning Classes Cancelled

 Due to a scheduled meeting, all classes after 9:00 AM will be cancelled.

 

*Sunday, January 11 – Kagami Biraki Ceremony at Hombu Dojo (14:00–16:00)

 Participation fee: ¥500

 The ceremony will include the Doshu’s New Year address, Aikido demonstrations, announcements of promotion recommendations, and certificate presentations.

Classes on this day will be held as follows:

 - General Class (3rd Floor): 9:00–10:00 / 10:30–11:30
 - Beginner Class (2nd Floor): 9:30–10:30

 

*Monday, January 19 to Wednesday, January 28 – Midwinter Training (Kangeiko)

 Participants who attend practice every day during this period may also join the Sunday, January 25 session at no additional cost.

 Those who complete the full training will receive a certificate and a small gift in recognition of their dedication.
